1984 National Champions?
In the record books, it was BYU that brought home the 1984 national championship trophy. However, here at Orange and Blue Victorious we recognize Galen Hall's 1984 Florida Gators as the national champions. Florida finished that season 9-1-1 with a 5-0-1 mark in the SEC. The lone loss was to defending national champions Miami. Due to some questionable NCAA infractions committed by Florida coach Charley Pell and a highly controversial vote from SEC schools, Florida was never officially recognized as either national champions or SEC champions. Twenty-two media publications including the New York Times and Sporting News however, did vote Florida as the #1 team in college football that season.
