#11 Florida @ South Carolina: Florida.
South Carolina has nothing to lose going into this game. Florida has punched their ticket to Atlanta with their sluggish 9-7 win over Vanderbilt last week, but don't think for a second they are overlooking Shawn Elliot and the South Carolina Gamecocks, who have been playing their best football in the past few weeks. I think this will be another close, low scoring game but I like the way first year head coach Jim McElwain teaches his squad to "live in the moment." I have Florida closing out SEC play with a win in Columbia. Georgia vs Auburn: Auburn. How big was this game on everyone's calendar heading into the 2015 season? Now both Georgia and Auburn will fighting for relevancy on the plains today. This is a must win for Mark Richt and the Bulldogs. Georgia has gone 0-3 against Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama, the three biggest games on their schedule. Beating Kentucky 27-3 last week may have relieved a little pressure in Athens, but now looms the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry, and Georgia needs the win. I really like the way the Auburn offense has been playing lately. Last week Jeremy Johnson got the start in an impressive road over Texas A&M. I think Auburn carries that momentum into today's game. North Texas vs Tennessee: Tennessee. Not much needs to be said. It's homecoming in Knoxville. Dobbs and company won't have any problem getting into the checker boards today. #2 Alabama vs #20 Mississippi State: Alabama. For the second straight week, Alabama will be involved in the biggest conference match up of the week. I think the cowbells get to the Tide and make this one close. It also helps that the home team has the best quarterback in the league. This should be a lot better of a game than LSU/Alabama ended up last week, but I like the Crimson Tide pulling it out late. Kentucky at Vanderbilt: Kentucky. This was actually a really hard decision. It could go either way. Western Carolina vs Texas A&M: A&M It's been a rough stretch for Kevin Sumlin and that highly regarded Texas A&M offense. They will score a lot today in College Station. Arkansas vs #9 LSU: LSU Another great match up today. Arkansas is coming off a wild win over Ole Miss last week while LSU is coming in wounded after getting beat at Alabama last Saturday night. I think this one will be close, but I like LSU in Death Valley and I believe #7 feels like he's got something to prove against the Razorbacks today after 31 yard performance in Tuscaloosa last week. BYU vs Missouri: BYU. It has been a tense week in Columbia, MO. First, the student body and members of the football team protested against the University President after an on campus racial incident that they felt wasn't dealt with in the right way. A fews days after University President Tim Wolfe stepped down, Head Coach Gary Pinkel announced his retirement following the season. I think Mizzou will play hard for Pinkel today (and for the rest of the season), but I think to many distractions during the week and a struggling offense will give BYU the win in Kansas City.
